About Me:

--------------------------------------------------------------

I'm a freelance reporter and editor with more than a decade of journalism experience spanning newspapers, magazines and the Web. Aside from writing the Web stories you see here, I also edit business, finance and technology stories for AOL's DailyFinance, where I'm a senior editor. I also serve as a U.S. correspondent for PV Magazine, an international solar publication based in Berlin. (The stories I've written for that publication are only available in print.)

In addition to traditional reporting and editing, I've enjoyed taking on a number of other fun and innovative projects in recent months.
For example:

*

I'm currently putting together a list of top solar leaders
-- scientists, entrepreneurs, investors and advocates -- for
Photovoltaics World

I researched and wrote an
18-page
report on osmotic power, which Kachan & Co. published in June.

*

For the Knight Center for Specialized Journalism, I wrote and edited a wiki on green jobs with co-editor Lisa Palmer last year. The wiki went live in November.

*
In March, GigaOm Pro published my 62-page report on cleantech financing. (The report is free with a trial subscription.)

*

I also researched and wrote a four-page report on new electric-transmission technologies for GigaOm Pro in September.

--------------------------------------------------------------

I'm best known for my work in cleantech and environmental reporting, but I've also written a wide variety of articles on other topics.

In my previous reporting positions at the Los Angeles Times' Times Community Newspapers and at The Argus, a Bay Area News Group newspaper in Fremont, Calif., I covered city government, education, health care, nonprofits and demographics issues.

At Red Herring, a technology magazine in San Mateo, Calif., my beat included mobile devices, automotive and defense technology, as well as cleantech and energy.

As an example of my range, here's a set of stories I recently wrote about Google, startup stealth and batteries:
